Area rescue teams responded to the area of 90 Carroll Road after a call came in late Saturday morning of a Kubota compact tractor tipping during construction, sending a worker to an area hospital.
First responders from Grafton, Sutton, Auburn, Webster and Charlton responded around 10:50 a.m. to the North Grafton site where a new home was being built. An employee from Earthworks was digging a five-foot trench for a new water main when the incident occurred.
According to Grafton Fire Chief Michael Gauthier, he called for the District 7 Technical Strike Team through the Southbridge Fire Department, which is a group of area communities. The team then secured the trench and the tractor so the worker could be safely pulled. “It took approximately three hours from the initial call to the time we extricated him,” said Gauthier.
The worker sustained a non life threatening hip injury, the fire chief said, and was conscious and alert during the ordeal.
